Fortune

So this is (would have been, if I had submitted it in time :) my submission for the fortune prompt... It's from an old mission mini-comic I worked on, but I couldn't find a copy of it anywhere, I finally tracked it down the day before APE (I didn't even have a copy anymore... Geez!), but didn't get a chance to post it until now. The title of the mini was "The Shit Fortune Cookies Are Made Of."

APE was good, made over a hundred dollars and got to meet Art Spiegelman. Maybe I'll get a table next year, I'm getting a little old to be harassing people on the sidewalk.

Ah hell, I secretly love it!

So this was supposed to be my submission for the snap prompt at Illustration Friday, but I'm a couple weeks late now. It's kind of a break up comic... My ex was always telling me I should draw more comics from life :) That that was what people wanted or something. The problem is the more connected I feel to a drawing the longer it takes to complete. The i Spy exercise whizzed by in comparison. It's kind of a damned if you do, damned if you don't situation really... I guess that's why I normally draw outlandish stories populated by mutant muppets (not that I'm not heavily invested in those stories too (they also take a while), but theoretically it goes quicker than if I was drawing myself and people I know).

Anyway, "snap"...
Her bra snaps, and then she snaps at me.
It's funny (in as much as it's funny) because it's true.

Last post for awhile, gotta get back to my school work and try to get my life back together.
:P

Roma Meats

So this is a pastel I did from a still life in my current 'artclass', but unlike most bullshit 'artclass' assignments, I'm actually pretty happy about this one. The subject matter was pretty creepy unto itself (or maybe I'm just keyed into that kind of thing), so I can't really take credit for all that, but I tried to play it up as much as I could (because god (sic) knows I like creepy cartoon characters (and parenthesii apparently)).

Tragically, I was wanting to give this painting to my ex, but she broke up with me the same day we had a critique for it in class... uncanny.

So, yeah, wanted to update something for the blog, but I'm thinking I don't really have the time for this right now. Maybe I'll pick it back up later when I have more time.

1st drawing prompt exercise- I spy.

So Patrick finally got me started with this whole "art blog" deal, and this was the first drawing prompt I did with him. The prompt was "i spy" (guess I rilly need to find the blog that prompt came from so I can post something... damn technology). I tried a lot of stuff before I figured I could morph the spyVs.spy guy and the ipod correctly.
I wanted to keep the subject matter kinda light and funny until I get use to this whole "drawing weekly" thing...
I guess I'll just post some of my normal comix until the next weeks drawing prompt.

Oh yeah, here's another drawing I did trying out the same idea... Really just trying to get the spy guy down before I elaborated on the design.

All in all it was a lot of fun, and I hope I have the discipline to keep it up.
